The Revolutionary Collagen Boosting Filler is Already Here!

Fillers are ideal to erase wrinkles. Now, new age fillers can regenerate your cells too – with more collagen production and longer-lasting results! Learn how now.

This new wave of rejuvenating and regenerative aesthetics is the future of anti-aging, according to Dr Frank Lee from Lloyds Medical Group in Singapore. Often travelling between USA, Europe, and Korea from Singapore, Dr Lee constantly keeps up-to-date and informed on the most advanced techniques available in the field of aesthetic medicine. We asked him about this revolutionary treatment and he explained the what, how and why to us in this article.

“Collagen stimulating fillers enables long-lasting and natural results through a non-invasive treatment method,” says Dr Lee. “It serves as a bio-stimulator that enhances the body’s own natural collagen reserves to produce immediate and noticeable results in a single treatment. Besides that, if administered correctly by a highly-skilled physician, it can produce natural-looking results that can last up to 2 years,” he adds.

How exactly does a collagen stimulator work, and why you should consider it?

Biodegradable collagen stimulators are the latest next-generation dermal fillers with characteristics that can induce a process called ‘Neocollagenesis.’ According to research done by The European Journal of Aesthetic Medicine and Dermatology, Neocollagenesis is a process which has a direct influence on the longevity of dermal fillers. Bio-stimulating dermal fillers use the body’s natural response to encapsulate foreign bodies and to stimulate the formation of collagen around the microspheres, forming a longer-lasting implant.

Until now, the options of anti-aging treatments have been limited – you could either choose to age naturally, or opt for small tweaks with Botox or threads lifts to stave off the signs of aging. Of course there’s also the ultimate choice of going under the knife for a full facelift – Yikes!

However, with medical advancements within the field of aesthetics, men and women now have another non-invasive treatment option – to boost their own collagen production and keep their skin looking plump, bouncy and smooth for longer. Intrigued? Well you should be.

This may be the treatment for you, if you’re thinking of treating those tell-all aging lines, wrinkles and folds, nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds), drooping corners of the mouth, sunken cheeks, recessed or hollowed temples, tear trough (under-eye hollows), jowl laxity, thinning skin, aging hands, and acne scarring, effectively.

“Similar to traditional dermal fillers, nose fillers and cheek fillers, collagen stimulators produce an immediate correction to volume loss. Collagen aids the skin in maintaining appropriate tightness, elasticity and suppleness. It is an important support structure found naturally in our skin. However, over time, with aging, the skin gradually loses its natural collagen. This results in the skin on the face losing its suppleness and the formation of wrinkles and folds,” Dr Lee explains.

Basically, collagen stimulators are a non-hyaluronic acid filler. It is injected into the skin to lift, sculpt and restore lost volume associated with skin aging. Its principle component is Poly-Caprolactone (PCL) microspheres – a bio-resorbable soft medical polymer. The PCL is suspended in a gel carrier made of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).

When injected into the skin, it reverses skin aging with a 2-step process:

  1. The CMC gel gives immediate lifting and sculpting results. However, the gel only lasts for about 12 weeks.
  2. At the same time, the PCL microspheres begin to stimulate your skin to produce collagen. The collagen stimulation peaks at 12 weeks to give the final long-lasting result.

Can collagen stimulators be combined with other treatments? What are the added benefits?

Besides treating wrinkles and fine lines with collagen stimulating fillers, facial sculpting is also a big advantage of this treatment. When your skin starts to lose elasticity due to the lack of collagen, it may begin to sag or become thinner. This could result in your cheekbones becoming more prominent as the skin starts to cling tightly to it. This loss of volume could also make your face appear sunken and aged.

Collagen stimulating fillers can help restore your facial structure and take years off your appearance! This sagging skin treatment will help your skin look more rejuvenated and healthier as the hyaluronic acid and newly produced collagen begin to take effect.

However, if there’s major asymmetry due to treatment by collagen stimulating fillers, the physician may consider injecting the under-treated side as well, to correct this. Sometimes, other combination treatments like threads or Botulinum toxin (Botox) can also be administered along with collagen stimulators to resume a closer symmetry.

Doing this is at the discretion of an experienced physician, with your consent of course. Dr Lee advises that you check before-treatment photos to see if there was prior asymmetry before you begin any other treatment and seek advice from the physician about how noticeable it is. An experienced physician will be able to tell you if it’s necessary to combine treatments or wait out the results a little longer before considering other options.

Conclusion

As a new age alternative to invasive and relatively costly plastic surgery, collagen stimulators have become a popular non-invasive choice for soft tissue augmentation. Collagen stimulating fillers are CE approved and is a safe and effective treatment for rejuvenating the skin and redefining facial contours.

Each session typically lasts about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the treatment area. After the treatment, Dr Lee recommends that you avoid applying makeup to the treated area for the following 24 hours as well as vigorous exercise and sun exposure for 3 days. Slight bruising may occur right after the procedure – but it’s nothing to be concerned about – this can easily be reduced with ice packs.

If you’re considering this treatment but still have more questions to ask, you can book an appointment with Dr Lee at Lloyds Medical Group situated on Orchard Road. With a mission to provide the most advanced medical aesthetic treatments, sound recommendations and medical insights to clients to achieve their beauty goals, we recommend that you get his expert advice before the treatment, as it’s a non-reversible procedure.
